Not every house track wants the same hand.

Tech house mastering is a density problem. The arrangement is already busy, so the job is separation: keep the percussion readable and stop the top end turning into a wash when the limiter starts working. The Mid-Hi band handles the presence without adding the brittle edge that shows up two hours into a set.

Afro house mastering is a timing problem. Live percussion, congas and shakers carry the record, and they are the first thing a fast release time flattens. Slower band behaviour keeps those hits sitting in front of the groove instead of being pulled back into it every time the kick lands.

A deep house mastering chain is a tone problem. The record is supposed to feel warm and slightly behind the beat. Sub weight stays round, the top gets air rather than brightness, and the overall level lands where the track still breathes.

The best limiter for house music is the one you barely hear.
